Rita (The Author)Rita Ghalayini is currently teaching IB Biology for the Amman Baccalaureate School, where she is also the Head of the Biology Department. She also teaches this subject at the Oxford Study Courses (OSC) in Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, and MIT. In addition, she is an assistant examiner and an Internal Assessment Moderator on the subject of Biology for the International Baccalaureate Organization. Moreover, Rita organizes ecology fieldwork and she has invited schools from other countries to join her students in the ecology fieldwork in the Red Sea at Aqaba. Rita enjoys teaching Biology and she describes her job as her niche, which provides her with the most dynamic and interesting way of life. The best moments of her life are in the class teaching and interacting with students' responses and development.

     "My continuous commitment to students and to the process of education has caused me to sit with my computer for endless and infinite hours, trying to facilitate the process of understanding concepts.

     These books contain material that covers a wide range of syllabuses and curricula including A-level, IB and a variety of high school systems. The books are written in a style that enables students to understand concepts easily, and to achieve high grades in tests and exams.

    There is not a single Biology book that contains all the materials that cover the Standard or the Higher level syllabuses. One book has nothing on gel electrophoresis another has nothing on biotic indices, and others have nothing on conservation agencies, the t-test, CVS and many other pieces of the syllabus. To prepare for their exams the students had to sit with several biology books, their notes from class and from their predecessors, the Internet, and a multitude of bits and pieces of papers and booklets. It becomes overwhelming and nerve racking to try to study and control all the requirements of the exam. I have always heard my students asking me to write a book. They would say, " we understand things the way you explain them, please write your notes in a book"

    After working with other students in the world through the IB summer schools and through marking official exam papers, I noticed that the problem is universal. I realized that students are looking forward to having a book that contains all the required materials, and that the material is presented in a way that makes things easy to understand and to retain. A way that makes Biology interesting and inspiring."
